Watercolor Mum

Do you ever have a mood?  Like a color mood?  Well, today I am in an orange mood.  I love orange (and green of course).  It's a far cry from the reds and greens we've been experiencing the past few months with Christmas cards.  Orange is crying out for Spring or even Summer.  Where I live, it's been like Spring, with temps in the 80's, having to using my a/c in my car.  That is the joy of living in southern California in the winter.

205The technique I used on this card is something that I did YEARS ago.  I white embossed the image on vellum the image I wanted to color.  When I owned markers, I would color from the back side the image for the muted color.  Today, I used my stamp pad and my new watercolor brush from Tim Holtz and watercolored on the top.  I like the orange, yellow and pink combo.  The stamps are by The Stamps of Life mums2stamps.  I used the Momento Dew Drop stamp pads for the color.  And I finally got my Hero Arts white embossing powder.

I am using the sketch from Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 205 .  I love their sketches.  It really makes card making easy.  And the samples are adorable.  I never have to guess on the measurements.  The possibilities are endless.  This card will be added to the pile that will be sent for our heroes.

I don't want the card to be 'naked' on the inside, so I echoed the same colors and used the tiny mum stamp from the same set in the pink.  I sponged some orange, but it's hard to tell in the pics.

Happy New Year to ALL!!
