Seeing Stars

Another watercolored star card using Salty Ocean and Broken China.  I am actually taking several cards I have seen this week and implementing several techniques into one card.

The stars are die cut from a thick Tim Holtz die. The background I used embossing paste and Tim Holtz Bubble stencil, sprinkled sparkle embossing powder, let it dry and then heat embossed it.  It doesn't really look sparkly, so I will certainly skip this next time.  I have Avery Elle Custom Panels Dies that I used to make this curved edge.  I had to snip it a bit, wasn't quite long enough.  The blue edging is a metallic CS that I've had forever.  The sentiment is Lawn Fawn.  Sequins are Pretty Pink Posh.  I know everyone had their own way to attach sequins, but I had one that I haven't seen mentioned.  I use Ice Pearl Pen.  That way it has a little white peaking out of the center of the sequin, which I actually love.

I am taking a break from participating in challenges for a while. Sometimes I get all caught up in the design or colors that I am losing the joy of cardmaking.  So, I am CASEing cards and gathering inspiration instead.

Tomorrow I have the honor to walk in the Relay for Life that my friends are doing.  It's a 24 hour event, where we all take turns walking for an hour, even in the middle of the night because cancer never sleeps.  I feel extremely fortunate that my family has not had anyone that has passed from cancer.  But I have lost many, many patients to cancer.  This is for them.  They have all touched my life to help make me the hospice nurse  I am today.

Thanks for stopping by!     Traci

  1. Traci, I love your card! You are a star for what you do in your career and for your selfless participation in the Relay for Life! I think you will enjoy your challenge break and that it's a good idea. I have so many cards pinned and when do I actually CASE them? Yup, never. Good for you! Hugs, Darnell
